Tom Nunan has a diverse background, as an executive in charge of operating both a national TV network and one of the largest vertically integrated television studios, and as an Academy-Award winning producer in film and supplier of diverse programming across all platforms available in TV. Nunan has a reputation for being a key builder of several beloved entertainment conglomerates that have become giant media brands and enormously successful businesses: THE FOX BROADCASTING COMPANY; NBC STUDIOS and UPN (now known as THE CW.)

Recently, Nunan is best known as founder and partner of BULL’S EYE ENTERTAINMENT (B.E.E.) – - a mid-sized independent film and television production company. During his oversight as a partner in B.E.E., Nunan generated a television and film slate of over 50 projects, including creating a strategic alliance with Sony Pictures TV. Nunan and his partners achieved worldwide fame and success for producing their Academy Award-winning Best Picture CRASH, as well as other beloved titles including THE ILLUSIONIST, THUMBSUCKER and EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH. Nunan also supervised the creation and production of many high-profile television projects including the STARZ cable network adaptation of the series CRASH, as well as the LIFETIME series ANGELA’S EYES and the CBS comedies, ALL GROWN UP and THE PAPDITS.

Prior to forming B.E.E., Nunan was President of The United Paramount Network (UPN) now known as THE CW. Nunan grew the network from two nights a week to its present schedule of six nights and had oversight of many departments including:
DEVELOPMENT & PROGRAMMING; SCHEDULING; MARKETING; BUSINESS AFFAIRS and a “dotted line” oversight of AFFILIATES and SALES. Nunan supervised over 70 employees in the Los Angeles-based national headquarters, but also consulted and helped supervise the local programming efforts of many of the major market stations that help comprise the UPN web of stations. Nunan’s successes while President of UPN included building many successful “event nights” of programming, including a highly rated AFRICAN-AMERICAN skewing Monday night schedule; a FEMALE TEEN drama night on TUESDAYS; a science-fiction based programming grid for WEDNESDAYS with a hugely successful WWE franchise of wrestling on Thursdays. FRIDAYS comprised UPN’S ORIGINAL MOVIE night, with Sunday’s made up of a mix of younger skewing comedies and event dramas.

To run a network successfully, it must include the delicate integration of all of the departments mentioned above. Nunan’s training as the Head of NBC STUDIOS perfectly prepared him for transacting in all of the key network departments.

As President of NBC STUDIOS, Nunan grew the once tiniest of vertically integrated production companies into NBC’s largest supplier of programming. While running the studio, Nunan oversaw a budget of over $80ML in development costs, which led to the production of some of NBC’s most cherished programs: WILL & GRACE; PROFILER; THE PRETENDER and even the CBS hit, THE KING OF QUEENS, which was generated at NBC STUDIOS. Nunan oversaw a staff of over 45 employees, ranging from BUSINESS AFFAIRS, DEVELOPMENT/PRODUCTION and MARKETING. NBC was the #1 network at the time and Nunan was surrounded by some of TV’s most enduring and successful executives: DON OHLMEYER, WARREN LITTLEFIELD, STEVE MCPHERSON, JAMIE TARSES, KEVIN REILLY, DAVID NEVINS and many others. Many on this team would go on to run other networks and studios, as Nunan did UPN.

Nunan’s work at growing THE FOX BROADCASTING COMPANY is what led to interest from the NBC network. While at FOX, Nunan originally ran its enormously successful comedy department – - leading the way with THE BEN STILLER SHOW, MARTIN, LIVING SINLGE, IN LIVING COLOR, MAD TV, FLYING BLIND and many others. Nunan’s success as a comedy executive ultimately led to his oversight of all of FOX’s primetime – - including REALITY, COMEDY, DRAMA and LATE NIGHT. Nunan was part of the team that grew FOX from a two night a week service, to a seven night a week service.

Nunan began his network-programming career as the Vice President in charge of movies at ABC NETWORK, prior to successfully running long-form development and production for JERRY WEINTRAUB, CHUCK FRIES and the GUBER/PETERS Company.

A graduate of UCLA’S Film and TV program, Nunan is now a member of the film school’s STEERING COMMITTEE and teaches annually in its Graduate Producer’s Program.

Nunan is the former President of the HOLLYWOOD, RADIO & TV SOCIETY and is currently CHAIRMAN of the JOYFUL HEART FOUNDATION, created and founded by Emmy and Golden Globe-award winning actress, MARISKA HARGITAY.

Nunan resides in Venice, California.
